I was exposed to Umno since I was a young kid. Umno is the largest political party in Malaysia which has became the government for this country since before British gave us back our land. I was exposed because my dad himself is a treasurer for an Umno's branch in Ipoh Barat Division. And 2 of my neighbours is the chief for their branches. I asked about their thoughts and learn Umno from their perspectives based on their 30 and more years of experiences. I heard about good and bad in Umno, learned the history of the party, and of course the achievement made by Tun Dr Mahathir during his era which are to many to be told here. Since Im from gen-Y generation, I was born during Tun's years of leadership. I still remember how my mother was crying in her room during Tun announced about his retirement in 2003. I was 11 years old back then so I still do not know what Tun's true capabilities. I thought that all the person who want to become a prime minister should have leadership skills and ideas just like him. However, I was wrong. During Abdullah's era, I learned that if a wrong person became a PM, Malaysia will fall and our vision to become a developed country will vanished. Luckily, Abdullah has been replaced by a son of Malaysia's noble, Najib Tun Razak. Najib is a son of Malaysia's second PM so I assumed that he must possess the same capabilities just like his father who people known as 'Father of Development' in Malaysia prior to his achievement such as establishment of Malaysian New Economic Policy. However, again I was proved that I was wrong. Najib is a spoil noble son who's never know what the hardship is. He was treated as VIP since kid and he does not understand about people struggling to find some money to fed his family and so on. He committed so many wrongful act which everybody in Malaysia is aware about it since internet can spread news as fast as the lightning. I will not discuss about his wrongful act here since the title of this post is dedicated to Tun Dr Mahathir.
Years ago, I watched a Youtube video which shows the interview by BBC World with Tun M. In that video, the interviewer has asked about the dictatorship in Malaysia which is to point out that Mahathir is a dictator. I am amazed with Tun M's calmness when answering the accusation and he replied back with a statement that Jews is the one who control this world and led it to the doomed (the owner of BBC World itself is a Jew). Since watching that video, I am interested to learn about Tun Dr Mahathir details and stories. I read many books and articles wrote by him, his supporters and people who opposed him. From that, I have learned that it is really hard to find a true capable and qualified PM to lead a multi-races country like Malaysia. There are so many aspects that need to be oversee before doing a project or amend an act. It is because Malaysia have a lot of cultures, norms and sensitivities. Tun M succeed to lead Malaysia to became one of the most respected developing country in this world during his administration despite it small size. However, even though Tun M has contribute so many to Malaysian, he still have an idea about a few projects that he believed can lead Malaysia to become a developed country by year 2020. One of it is crooked bridge from Johor to Singapore to replace 'Tambak Johor'. His successor, Abdullah said it is a waste of government money to build such bridge to linked our nation with Singapore. Instead, he build a second bridge for Penang which is more costly and does not benefited as the crooked bridge (traffic jam during peak hour still happen on the first bridge). Najib also refused to built crooked bridge even though during his time to become a PM, Tun M give full support for him to replace Abdullah. This 2 PMs failed to oversee the reasons why Tun M really want to built the crooked bridge. The first reason why he want to built the bridge is because he want to provide an easy access for Singaporean to come to Johor and shopping in a low prices compared to Singapore which can increase the profit of Johorean businesses. This also can lead for more respect from Singapore government who always arrogant toward our country with their achievements made from capital back-up by the United States of America. Everybody understand that Malaysia would be so much better than Singapore if the size of our country is just like them. Other than that, the reason of Tun M want to built the crooked bridge with the height of 25 metres from the land can lead to the development of Pasir Gudang Port which located in Johor. This is because, with that height, the small and medium sized ship can go to our port without go through Singapore since the 'Tambak Johor' is very low in height and the ships does not have enough space to pass through it. With the building of crooked bridge, all the international ships have a new short-cut to go to the East and they will likely to stopover in Johor Port than Singapore Port. This will contribute to the development of our country and gain so much profits prior to this project. However, those 2 people which the former PM Abdullah and current PM Najib is failed to understand about this matter. They are failures. The reason I said this because both of them asked from the Singapore Government whether to built the crooked bridge or not. Which country want a project that can affected their economic level in a bad way as much as that? The project actually does not need an approval from Singapore since the reason of an idea why the bridge is crooked is because it will be build in territory of Malaysia. Both of them, the former and current Malaysia's PM is thinking too much about the feelings of our 'friend' with a full awareness that our fellow 'friend' is never think that Malaysia is their friend. Even the citizens of Johore also give their full support in building the crooked bridge. With the failure of this two top Umno's leaders to perform a Malaysia's important mission such as developing the crooked bridge and failure to perform a good administration, achieving Malaysia's vision to become a developed country by year 2020 is likely to be impossible. Malaysia already have a clear vision and mission, however, if the mission is not done, the main objective can never be achieved by our country.
